Where we work

We work at Ullunda Block of Sonepur District of Odisha. Majority of the population have minimal access to modern amenities. Ullunda is the only block where tribal population is existing with a high number of Sonepur District.

Around 35% people are dependent on seasonal migration to other district/states as a daily wage worker. As a result of which their children left school or are dropouts. This seasonal migration affects their learning to great extent. So our intention is to fill this gap of their learning.

93% population of Sonepur (Subarnapur) district in Odisha lives in rural areas with 35% of the population belonging to backward classes and 46% population illiterate. As per the ASER 2016 report 32% of standard 5 th cannot read the standard first level text in between, and among them only 44% student are can do subtraction. 26% student cant recognized two digit number.

The model at Gramothhan will be a demonstrative setup which can be used and implemented across Odisha which faces similar issues at broader level and will be able to bring all key stakeholders (children, teacher, administration, community, and youth etc.) at a common platform for the change of society.
